About St. Helena Food Pantry

Mission Statement

The primary objectives and purposes of this corporation shall be: to solicit donations of food and money with which to buy food for distribution to low income families. Both perishable and non-perishable food will be provided. These services are provided totally by community volunteers.

Who We Help

St. Helena Community Food Pantry has served our community for 35 years. Since the pandemic, food insecurity among our neighbors has grown significantly.

Every week of the year, we serve about 100 families facing food insecurity — primarily in St. Helena, Deer Park, Rutherford, and Oakville, and also in Yountville and Pope Valley. Our families range from one to seven members, so we serve roughly 300 people each week, spanning generations from young families to neighbors in their 90s.

What We Provide

Each week, every family receives:

•  A large bag of fresh fruits and vegetables

•  A dairy bag with milk, eggs, butter, and cheese

•  Two types of protein (beef, chicken, fish, or pork)

• Bread & bakery itmes donated by Safeway & the Model Bakery

•  Once a month, we also provide a large bag of shelf-stable pantry staples.

During the pandemic, our volunteers began loading groceries directly into clients’ cars — a service we still offer today, ensuring every visit is safe, dignified, and welcoming. Each summer, a generous local couple donates fresh flowers from their garden, so every family can bring a little extra beauty home to their kitchen table.

We’re grateful every week for the smiles and kind words from the families we serve.

We are an all-volunteer organization, funded entirely by the generosity of our community, and operate as our own 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
